Job Opening in Southern Sudan for Engineering Intern
(International Foundation, July 2010)

The job site for this position will be in two locations, including Kapoeta and Maridi, two trading centers located in Eastern and Western Equatoria states, respectively. The position will have a duration of about six months. NRECA will provide accommodations and a monthly stipend during the assignment. NRECA will additionally provide for transportation, any required evacuation, Internet access, and pre-travel vaccinations and visas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the site engineer in final design and documentation activities
  • Participate in electrical and structural construction activities, as needed
  • Manage procurement and logistical tasks as assigned by the site engineer
  • Participate in other activities as assigned by NRECA engineering and management personnel

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

The engineering intern should have at minimum a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited college or university. In addition, the intern should have at least one year of practical work experience with engineering design activities, including previous internship experience and/or professional experience working with an engineering design team. Practical construction experience with mechanical, electrical and structural systems is preferred. Experience with procurement and logistics is also preferred. Prior experience volunteering for Peace Corps or other international development initiatives preferred.
