Madagascar is an island located in Eastern Africa, 740 miles from the Mozambique mainland. Only one third of its population has access to electricity out of a population of almost 30 million people.
In 2023, NRECA International signed an agreement with SEforALL (Sustainable Energy for All), an international non-governmental organization, to support the Government of Madagascar to develop an Integrated Energy Plan. When completed, the plan will be used by public/private entities to determine the best way to achieve universal energy access. The work includes developing a least-cost geospatial integrated electrification plan, identify and analyze data on access to clean cooking technologies and fuels, conduct a geospatial assessment of the vaccine and agricultural cold chains, and conduct necessary training of key stakeholders in Madagascar.
